Has anyone been able to do this yet? I have access on my phone to the internet (I do NOT have the 75 dollar data plan for laptops) and can use my pearl to get online via my macbook pro, although I'm using a modem script I found online here: http://www.fibble.org/archives/000508.html

I'm connecting to:

apn: wap.cingular
number: *99***1#
username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1

Every time I connect from the N800 I get "remote server error". I haven't been able to find any logs that may tell me some more information yet.

Has anyone been able to dialup via bluetooth with the phones internet data plan?

On my 770 I use:

apn: wap.cingular
number: *99#
username: WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM
password: CINGULAR1

I had the same remote server issue last night using both the 770 and 800. I suspect either Cingular RAS server poverty or that they have changed something... again.

Ok good, I'm not the only person having this issue. I managed to get it to connect and "transfer data" this morning after rebooting both devices, but it promptly kicked me off and started errors again right after.

However, using the above mentioned script I can still get online with my macbook pro... (I noticed the macbook pro has wap.cingular as the phone number as well as the APN... which is interesting)

Anyone who knows anything else would be of great help!

You can also try ISP. instead of WAP. But AFAIK that requires a different plan and may not work. There is also *99***<CallerID># but this is almost always just set to 1 (if even required).

I am with T-Mobile but have had the same issue. I have received 2 emails from Nokia blaming Blackberry.

"The error message that you are receiving while attempting to establish a connection to the internet indicates that your Blackberry Pearl device is not able to connect to a remote server. This does not indicate an error within the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. For further assistance with using your Blackberry Pearl with your Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, please contact Blackberry or the provider for your internet service."

Since I am able to use my Pearl for connecting my HP laptop to the internet, I think Nokia's CS has it wrong.

If this doesn't get fixed, the N800 is going back. I spent several hours in the LA airport last night waiting for a redeye to bring me back to the midwest. Tried repeatedly to get this working. Finally gave up and paid Boingo $7.95 to connect via my laptop. This if part of the reason I bought the N800 and if it doesn't work properly, what good is it?

I totally understand. Coupled with the memory card corrupting causing white screen of death on day 2 and TWO full reinstalls of the OS to get the terminal working again, I almost took mine back. But when it works, I LOVE IT. It's just, with no VPN and no DUN with blackberry, I can only get online with it for 3 hours or so in the evening, and that's not nearly enough to justify the purchase.

But I'm hoping we get through it.

What, the N800 still have WSOD problem? I'm so not buying one then.

I'm not sure what the WSOD really was, but I had a rebooting problem (and seems to be traced back to mweather having this documented bug OR the memory card being corrupt.)

But all is well now. (on the booting front)
