I was just wondering if there is a program for the N800 Os2008 that can view photoshop files (.psd). I do a lot of work with photoshop and would love to be able to view the files on my N800 without having to turn them into jpeg or gif. I've been using Orb alot to access my files from my computer, so being able to view the raw file would be very helpful.

any suggestion?

I doubt it (as psd is proprietary - isn't it ?) - also the n800 is probably a bit underpowered for that...

Actually, I don't think there's anything but PS that can open a .psd file, PC, Mac or IT. .psd is the proprietary Photoshop format. I think that .raw files are yet another file type, used by some cameras to store images. I think you mean 'raw' as in 'not-yet-converted-to-a-jpeg' in PS, but it doesn't look like that's possible imo.

I have found Krita in the KDE port to be the most robust image editor available so far for the IT (it does most everything PS can do, but slowly, followed by Mirage, which allows re-sizing and file conversion, on the Maemo side. Honestly I love the idea of editing photos on my N810, but it's a lot easier back at the desk

Ya, Krita is really your only option. It is an excellent application, and useful for some quick edits here and there. You are very severely limited by the 128mb ram though so obviously performance is not good.

Edit: I am pretty sure that Krita supports psd.

I believe the OP was asking for a viewer of .psd files, not an editor.

I'm a soon-to-be owner of the N800, so I don't have an answer. However, there is the free IrFanView for the PC that can view .psd files without the need to fire up Photoshop. Does anyone know of an equivalent image viewer for the N800?

doesn't gimp allow viewing of PSD. Its not a viewer as such, but since it was the reason gtk (Gimp Tool Kit) was created, I have no idea if its possible since the gimp has such a horrible layout if its easy to put on the tablet.

You would need to install Gimp under KDE/XFCE, but I don't think anyone is going to go through the trouble since Krita is already available and working as part of the default KDE layout.

"RAW files" are generally the native format that is saved by DSLR's (and some compact) camera's.
you could say it contains the used settings to shoot the picture and a dump from the sensor. "Raw files" allow you to change the whitebalance , exposure (within certain limits) and a lot of other parameters after wards in photoshop or a other capable editor.

If interested see http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...aw-files.shtml

PSD is the native format of photoshop and has no relation to camera's as such.
