thanks for the link. may i dare ask why someone should install clamav on a n800?
i guess linux + arm isn't exactly the main target platform for most virus authors.

Is this a joke? The IT's do not need antivirus software. That is just stupid. Hell, even if you are running XP you don't need IF you know what you are doing and know how to use the interwebs. But chances are , if you are using windows in the first place, then you probably don't.

It seems like a waste of time porting this to Maemo when we could use a bunch of different apps that are actually useful. Okay, my rant is over.

I think that it could be useful to mount a windows partition and spot and kill all those germs.

Anti-virus software (like clamav) for Linux wasn't developed to fight viruses on Linux, it's for when you use a Linux machine as a front-end for e.g. incoming mail for Windows machines. Like e.g. at where I work, where there are some Windows machines here and there, and the mail servers run Linux.

Of course you could use your N800 as a front-end for your Windows machines department.. of nothing else it would be kind of .. impressive..!

BTW, re. the link above about clamav trouble: clamav is a great, free product and thus an easy target for patent trolls. If you can, please support Barracudanetworks in this.

Ah, now I understand! I guess I never thought about using it that way.
