Download the files, install, reboot and launch Canola. After the little icnon in the middle goes away, I'm left with a green background, the time on the top left and a small icon consisting of 4 dots on the right and that's it.

I tried running canolad, didnt help.

I ran into this problem over the weekend, but was due to running canola as root (which 'Nokia-770-36:~# canola' implies)

Try running as user instead, worked for me
