Has anyone gotten Datebk6 to work with the GVM? I've been trying and keep getting a "getting size failed" error.

I did try DB6 and it seemed to work ok, except I can't create any tasks. Not sure why Access didn't include the todo application and database.

Anyone worked around that?

I got DateBk5 working, but not 6. Your "size" error would make me look at the two size settings in the GVM. One is the overall Storage Heap size accessible from the Settings button in the GVM (I believe this is the total memory size of the virtual machine; I set mine to 64MB). The other is the Dynamic Heap Size for the app, from the Configure button once an app is selected in the GVM, which I would assume is the memory space allocated to that app. That seems to default to 2MB, so I would try to up it to 4MB and see if it makes a difference.

Don't know if that helps, but something to look at, anyway!

I hit this problem too. DateBk5 worked fine, but DateBk6 crashed with the "getting size failed" error on startup each time.

But I eventually got DateBk6 working

Here's how.
  1. Download the latest version of DateBk6 from http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk6.htm NB the latest version - it's a link in the column on the right hand side of the page with a heading "V-6.1a of DateBk6". Not sure if it's necessary to have this version or not, but it worked for me...
  2. Install dbSetup6, DateBk6-Resources, Icons-DATEBK and DateBk6 - in that order.
  3. Configure dbSetup6 and DateBk6 to have 4MBytes of dynamic heap size and to have a device model of Tungsten T|X. I figure it's best to have GVM make things look as normal as possible to DateBk6 - kind of lull it into a false sense of security...
  4. Run dbSetup6, select all the install options and choose the standard icon set.
  5. Close that GVM window, and return to the Garnet VM home window.
  6. Launch DateBk6, choose NOT to assign the button.
  7. Happily start adding calendar items etc. Oh for a port of DateBk to Hildon!!

Hope that helps.
