Hello Everyone,

Would someone mind looking in filemanager on an 810 and telling me if the tree view shows a listing for the Removable memory card on the left, even when a card isn't there?

Mine has stopped working, but I was thinking filemanager still showed an empty tree, even when nothing is mounted.

I'm hoping it's a bad card, and not a bad reader.

Thanks in advance!

I called nokia, gotta send it in for repair.

With all the views, you think someone could have at least bothered to eject their card and answer the question.

Nice.

just found this thread. Before sending it off, you might want to keep using it, but keep an eye on the card. I recently noticed that my card had somehow ejected itself, and only noticed because I was having trouble closing the kickstand, as it was getting caught on the card door.

Yeah... inserting the micro SD on the N810 can be kinda tricky - that's why I just put it in and leave it in. Make sure when inserting it you hear/feel a click. I need to use m finger nail or the stylus tip to really be able to get in fully inserted.

You're both right about inserting it all the way, I have to use the stylus too. I had problems with that before, but the card still doesn't show up, even though it's seated with a click.

Could someone tell me if the removable card still has a listing in filemanager, even if it's not inserted?

Seated with a c lick is NOT a sure test, IMHO.

A better test is the door have to stay shut even when the kick stand is not there.

You can hear a click, the miniSD still stays out and prevented the door from shutting. In this way, you will NOT see the removable card. Try to seated the card, and hear the click, and use a flash light to ensure the card is seated beyond the edge of the tablet. It took me several trials to get it right. There should be a clearance about 0.8 mm clearance after the card seated. and the door should be closed and flush with the edge of the tablet, and the door should just sit tight by itself, does not require the kick stand to help to stay shut, that you would see your removable card. It took me half an hour of ownership to get this f)(*&^^_g miniSD seated right.

If my memory served me right, a month back, (I think it is the time the N810 just came out) I read in this forum, a brand of mini/micro with adapter is too bulky, and the door wont shut, and of course, the removable memory icon is not showing up. The OP opted to have it trimmed, yes, physically trimmed and the problem solved. I wonder whether this is your problem. If so, please post the brand, the micro or mini and mini adapter so everybody aware. Thanks,

I could be wrong for the 810, however, I have a greyed out listing on my 770 that says "No memory card inserted."

Mine is also not reading cards, apparently, and after ordering a brand new MMC-Mobile card, that one didn't read either. It's looking like I may be sending mine in to Nokia as well.

C'mon guys, if you want to talk about how to insert or remove the card go to another forum. Haokah is still waiting for an answer!

As previously mentioned, on the 770 it still shows the card grayed out, but on the N810 the removable card disappears completely from the file manager when removed.
