I just bought 6 Kingston 2gb sd memory cards for use with my n800, but 3 of the 6 will only allow me to write to half a gig. The file manager shows 1.88gb total and 1.48gb free, but when I try to write to it, I get a message that there is not enough memory available. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to access that 1.48gb? Has anyone else had this problem?

There are different models of Kingston 2 Gbyte SD cards, but I haven't had any trouble with my Kingston Ultimate 2 Gbyte SD cards (120x). I have heard of this problem happening with counterfeit SD cards, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. Have you tried them in a different SD device?

I had this problem as well... still not sure if I've solved it or not. In my case, the best that I can tell is that the builtin maemo file manager breaks my cards when I use it to format memory cards. The 2 cards I'm using now finally allowed me to fill them up after I formatted them via a windows pc. I think that windows formatted them in FAT (works) while maemo file manager used FAT32 (corrupts them) ... no one responed to my original post about this so I guess I'm the only one with such problems.

However, I still have a third card that will only alllow me to write a certain amout to ... oddly, if i try to add one more average size mp3, i get an out of space error. However, when I tried copying a large podcast to the card it worked. At this time I haven't tried/tested any more with that card as I don't want to risk loosing what's currently on it.

I have tried the cards on my laptop and my n800 with the same results. I haven't tried to use the n800 to format them, but I did try it with my laptop, but the results were the same. Are there different ways to format them in windows? Whhen I did it last time, it seemed really quick. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

I had that issue with a San Disk 2GB card. Reformatted it in my Mac and had problems. It is currrently in a video camera working fine. This was before the ITOS 2008 update. I now have PNY 2GB card in my 800 and it's been working just fine.
