There are books that are available only as an Adobe PDF eBook. As far as I know, because of the Digital Rights Management protection, such a book can be read only with Adobe Reader or Adobe Digital Editions. It seems neither of these programs can be installed currently on Nokia Tablets. Which means that if you have it legitimately on your laptop or desktop computer, you're nonetheless sh** out of luck if you want to take it with you on your N800 or N810.

Has anybody found a way to read these protected Adobe files on the Nokia Tablets or to circumvent the DRM problem so that they can be read with another PDF reader on the Tablet?

The only possible solution I've seen is to download Adobe Reader for Palm and use that within the Garnet emulation. If you've done that, I would like to hear about your experience. I loaded Garnet, but once I saw what a little piece of the screen it used, I figured it was hopeless and I didn't bother loading Adobe Reader. (Hmm, has anyone come up with pixel-doubling for the Garnet Palm application, sort of like what's done to make 400x240 movies full screen?)

I've searched and searched for this myself... Sorry I haven't found any way to view those DRMd Adobe files... There is a way to view some DRMd formats but I believe I saw you in that thread already so you must know about those.

There is also no way to increase the GVM screen as of yet. IMHO GVM right now is quite useless.

Good luck - and please keep us posted if you find anything.

I don't have a NIT yet, but I fought with a DRM'd ebook for quite a while, trying various methods to open it on my Zaurus using xpdf & evince, and failing that to try to strip the DRM out and/or convert it to html or plain text. Never did get it working. Bought the dead tree version instead .

grog, you may find this other thread -- re Mobi and eReader books (but not Adobe) -- of interest. It's the thread to which PinCushionQueen referred.
