Why is it so easy to lose my connection while tethering? The phone can just be just one feet away and still lose connection. Then when I try to reconnect the phone and the N800, I am sometimes unable to reconnect ("Connection failed to phone Motorola Phone. Try again?") I have to first turn my phone Off and then On again before I can reconnect.

ATT, 3G, Motorola V3xx, MEdia Net Unlimited, bluetooth tethering.

Nokia N800, OS2008

dslreports.com mobile speed test shows:
100k 136 kbit/sec, 1.41s latency, 6.874s d/l time
100k unstable/too fast a result (2.95s)
200k 86 kbit/sec, 1.213s latency, 19.646s d/l time

If you are using a DUN hack on your WM phone,
it is a pretty sketchy proposition- i.e. resetting your connection to reconnect, etc.etc.

You should really download the PAN hack for your Nokia,
find it on the garage by searching PAN....

Then you can delete your silly DUN connection and start anew!

Great idea, except the V3xx isn't Windows & doesn't support PAN?

I have the same phone/hardware/carrier and occasionally lose the connection to the phone, but not so often as to be annoying. Also - my dlsreports speeds tend to be closer to 1mbps than 100kbps.

Sorry I can't help, other than to agree that something isn't right with your setup.

Okay, I did some testing. I found that the connection "crashes" when trying to listen to online radio and while trying to view a live video stream using the bluetooth connection. I guess a simple phone connection is not meant to be use for streaming. Everything works great when visiting websites. Now that I look back, I remember my connection going bad when trying to access live video.

Thanks for all your help guys.

I've experimented with tethering to my Nokia 9300 (DUN) and found that when I tried to have multiple IP stacks going, the connection would drop. The solution appears to only do one Internet thing/task/pipe at a time with the connection.

That means that the RSS Feed Reader application is definitely a no-no when tethered.
