I have an N810 with latest O/S 2008. Been working fine for a few months but in the last couple of days many apps no longer work. eg:
Camera will not take picture (error: cannot capture image)
Recorder will not record (hit record and it stays at 0.0 and gives a blank message box in top right)
Claws mail will not pick up or send mail (no error posted)
Application installer will not refresh available apps, install or update apps. (On refresh it locks up during a download and I can only cancel, installs just say: install failed)

There may be more but this is what I have checked so far. Appart from app installer all the failed ones seem to be 3rd party.

The last application change I made was to uninstall rDesktop and attempt to install the one at
http://wardenclyffetower.com/MaemoFi...-cli-1.5.0.deb
from pipeline.
That install failed and I THINK was the point where things started going wrong.
I tried to reinstall rDesktop and that failed.

Later, I did attempt to install Gnumeric spreadsheet and it appeared to allow some library installs but did not complete the installation. This is where I began to see a pattern emerge of many problems.

What information should I post to help those more knowledgeable than I to suggest what to do?

Thanks for any help the forum can give.

- disk read/write failures?

- have you tried backing up your data and reflashing?

Could be the read-only internal memory bug? http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=18043

Hi l_a,

I have no data corruption that I am aware of and all my apps actually open (and OEM ones seem to work fine), so disc failures seem remote. I have plenty of space everywhere as well. The main data I have is with the GPE suite - does this get backed up with the Nokia supplied backup to memory card app?

Is there anything else to look for before taking this 'drastic' measure?
Cheers
Derek

Yerga,
I'll take a detailed look at this possibility. Thanks.

XL1200c,

I did! And then confirmed that the problems continued. I didn't wait long though, should we be waiting a period of time for memory to fully flush before power up?

I think you are ok without waiting.

After a program fails to install, what does Tools > Log in application manager say?

BTW, I'm haveing intermittent problems reading my MiniSDHC card on my PC. I finally managed to get it to read the card and open the saved log file. (The card was almost full of music but has plenty of space for this log)

Corrupt Memory Card.

Follow the link yerga gave. See if you can backup data on internal card. Only backup important stuff like music etc. Dont copy apt-archive-cache for example.
