I tried OS2008 a while back (it may have been the beta) and it dropped calls between 2 - 30 seconds. For me, a defective Skype is a deal-breaker for switching to OS2008.

At this thread on the Skype forum, one of the moderators claims it works fine: "I don't have issues with Skype on my N800 running OS2008."

Can anyone confirm that Skype works on the N800 running OS2008 without dropping calls yet?

(And yes, I have searched but didn't find anything concrete)

TIA

Yes I can confirm. I did a test call live on Ustream a few days ago, successfully maintained the call for over a minute.

As long as you have the latest version of both OS2008 and Skype you should be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply - could you please confirm you're testing on the N800 and not the N810?

Thanks again

The current version of OS2008 (50-2) is the same on both N800 and N810. Only difference between the two devices now is hardware such as the keyboard. Same processor, etc.

I'm using an N800 with OS2008 and I maintained a 15 minute call from a horribly slow access point in Vietnam to the US with little trouble.

No problem using Skype on my OS2008 N800. Had a conversation for over an hour. Early on it dropped when (out of habit from using a cellphone) I went outside for a smoke, beyond my wireless router's range. Lesson: If you're having problems, it might be with the constancy of your wireless connection. The N800 and OS2008, however, are fine for Skype.

Okay, thanks everyone. It must have been because when I tested it, OS2008 was still in beta.

Pity there's no video though. Seems kinda silly how you can't use the built-in webcam.

Works on Gizmo, but nothing to call home about (bad pun, sorry). Image is somewhat pixelated, but I'm not bothered since i usually call over SIP anyway
