So, what do you think?

Will the Tracker from Hell eat our batteries alive or will the Tracker of Justice bring order to the Chaos in our tablets?

For me, I don't really care about battery life. I kill mine off so easily...

Still, another port cannot hurt

Maybe they will utilize inotify (since it is available in the kernel).

Generally it's better (both on battery life and number of bugs) to have a wider open-source project being used than a Nokia home-grown component.

All in all: a good thing.

I think this is a flippin' cool idea -- and something that will help to move the tablet away from the historical desktop paradigm.

Tracker was not just available when metalayer was started (and obviously metalayer has not received required care & attention).

Sorry, I don't quite understand you. Are you saying that Tracker wasn't available when metalayer was first developed, and that it wasn't an option? If so, I'm not saying Nokia shouldn't have developed metalayer-crawler, but I am saying it's a good thing if it goes in the bin and they contribute to a better, more widely used & supported upstream project now.
