Just bought my 770 and think it has the potential to be the gadget du jour I've been looking for if only a few bugs were worked out. First, and most disappointing to me, is that the 770 won't play streaming video or audio from Orb.com. Pictures and file browsing work fine. If the streaming worked I could have my entire video and music collection (well over 1 TB) with me wherever I had a network connection. Any ideas? Secondly, I can't use MSN Remote Record with the 770. I can log in to my account and find the program I want to record but the buttons to set the recording are not available. Anyone else have any luck with this?

I am able to use orb w/out a problem. Be sure to manually set the bitrate down to something like 74. The favorite player should be Real Media. Also - if you are using orb outside of your home network be sure to forward the proper ports (I am not sure which these are) or just disable the firewall on your router.

I know nothing about the MSN thing.

Good luck!

At the risk of seeming 'thick' - where are the bitrate settings in orb? I have changed the defaut player to real but I still get an 'unsupported file type' error by the n770 media player....

Cheers

using your 770, from the orb home page go to tools. the device web speed is at the top. type in 74 and check the box for remember speed. be sure that real media is the only supported format checked and that it is marked as the favorite.

I tried making these changes but I'm still not able to view video or listen to audio. When I attempt to watch a TV show (recorded on Media Center) on my 770 through Orb I get a video_core.dll error on the media center pc. When I attempt to watch a video file or listen to an audio file on the 770 through Orb I get a "connection lost" message after a few seconds on the 770. Orb works fine on other pc's. I appreciate the suggestions so far but it looks like I need more help.

Edit: I just figured out my streaming audio and video problem. I didn't have RealPlayer installed on my pc for Orb to be able to convert the files for streaming. I'm disappointed in the video quality. Audio is fine. I'm still getting the error when I try to watch my Media Center recorded shows though.

have you tried restarting the orb server? how about making sure you have the most recent version of orb and the 770 os? have you looked at orb's knowledge base?

good luck.

good luck.
Also, make sure you have a supported tv tuner card in your server comp. Orb apparently does not work with ATI All-in-Wonders.
