Hi,

I never had any problems flashing my N800 with new releases of IT OS.
But if I try to flash it with the new OS2008 it always stops when flashing the kernel-image. I doesn't work under Windows neither under Linux.
If I use the flasher-3.0 under Linux I get the folowing error:
Code:
USB device found found at bus 006, device address 003
Found device RX-34, hardware revision 1301
NOLO version 1.1.7
Version of 'sw-release': <no version>
Sending xloader image (8 kB)...
100% (8 of 8 kB, avg. 8875 kB/s)
Sending secondary image (96 kB)...
100% (96 of 96 kB, avg. 16000 kB/s)
Flashing bootloader... done.
Sending kernel image (1494 kB)...
100% (1494 of 1494 kB, avg. 19155 kB/s)
Flashing kernel... Sending request 0x50 failed!
Unable to get error strings: Connection timed out
I also got this error with the Beta Version but expected that it would work with the final release. Tried also to enable rd-mode an so on but nothing seems to help. But when I try to flash a version of OS2007 theres no problem. It's no problem of a corrupt file because I tried to download it again and the md5 is also OK.
Maybe someone else has a similar problem or knows what the errorcode 0x50 means?

greetings davgus

Does nobody have an idea?
I'd really like to use OS2008 on the N800. I tried everything but it just doesn't flash.

The only difference I can imagine between flashing 2007 and flashing 2008 (assuming no corruption) is that the 2008 file size is quite a bit larger. Could you be running out of memory or temp storage space on your PC?

I assume you're trying to flash RX-34_2008SE_2.2007.50-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin ?

Yap, I'm trying to flash RX-34_2008SE_2.2007.50-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
I don't think it's a Problem of Temp Space I tried it on different Computers with different Operating systems. And I can flash everything except the kernel (zImage). If I do it seperately I'm also able to flash the rootfs which is a lot bigger than the kernel I think.

Well I don't know where this all fits in but: I have been having a hard time with flashing n800 with os08. Nokia told me to send it back to them! After reading this thread I tried flashing in beta then went a hunting for os07. Success!

I tag this on to this tread to share and maybe the hive mind can figure out what is happening.

I'm not sure if I got it right...
So you also hab problems flashing OS08 on the N800 but it worked with the beta version?
In my case the betarelease also didn't work.
Still noone an idea what this "Flashing kernel... Sending request 0x50 failed!" means?

When you tried it on different computers, Davgus, did you download a new copy of the .bin file? Did it fail at the same point?

failed at the same point for me!

Back to os07 again, again. Maybe there is something wrong with the machine and I ought do what Nokia service suggested: return it to them. there email was a bit of a boiler plate so I wrote back and ask that a human read and respond.

Yap, I tried it with different files and the error is alway at the same point.
When it tries to flash the kernel-image I get the folowing error:
Code:
Sending kernel image (1494 kB)...
100% (1494 of 1494 kB, avg. 19155 kB/s)
Flashing kernel... Sending request 0x50 failed!
Unable to get error strings: Connection timed out
And it also stops at the same point with the Beta release of OS08. Maybe the both have the same kernel-image I don't know. But I don't understand why my N800 doesn't accept these kernel-image. I can even flash a file as kernel-image that isn't a kernel-image but it just doesn't take this one file.
