I just got a new N810 last Friday. My first impressions were very favorable, except for the screen/slider keyboard. I think the slider mechanism on one side is loose. When the n810 is closed the left side fits together nicely and is very sturdy. The right side, though, is looser. I can actually squeeze it together to make it fit closer together. This gives the overall unit a wobbly feel when it is closed.

This looseness also affects the slider keyboard when I open it up. When I slide the screen upward, the left side locks into place nicely. The right side does not. I can push it up but it does not lock. In fact when I hold the device upright instead of flat on the table, the screen sags on that right side. It only sags a slight bit but it brings the screen that much closer to the top of the keyboard and it is just annoying that it does not lock into place like the left side. I can use my thumb to push it back up into place when I am using it, but my thumb gets tired after a while.

Being that this is my first and only n810, I am wondering if this is normal or do I have a defective one? All the reviews that I have read and the forum posts I have browsed, do not mention this problem/annoyance. Any thoughts/ideas? thanks.

Yes, From what I have discovered, it is normal. I had one like you described and returned it for another, only to find it is the same way. I asked the same question a while back. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=17026

Thanks for the info. I searched for "slider loose", "keyboard problem", etc. before posting but I did not see your previous post. It looks like that is how it is supposed to be. Too bad..the screen sags just enough on that side that it almost touches the top of the keyboard. Makes it difficult to type on that side....plus just the skewing of the screen because of the sagging drives me crazy. I will probably return it and look around for another device

Mine doesn't do this, the slider seems very smooth and tight. I would call Nokia support just to be safe. It's possible to get two bad ones in a row, theoretically.
