Does anyone have an experience or knowledge of using an unlimited data card/usb with the n800 or n810? (example of one: Novatel Wireless Ovation U727) My objective is to have Data "ON" always with the n800 or n810 so I can travel outside of a hotspot wifi area and not have to rely on my cell phone bluetooth connection. Honestly, I would prefer to just use the Nokia with skype and eliminate my cell phone and (minute) calling plan....just using an unlimited Data package that is available and using the Nokia n800 or n810. Have not tried it yet and would appreciate any wisdom concerning this.....Thanks!

Given the location of the USB ports on the N800 and N810, I wouldn't want to use any directly attached USB device with one. It would get in the way of comfortably holding the tablet.

You might want to look at the CradlePoint product line. They have 3 devices:

1) USB and ethernet, no battery (CTR-350 I think)
2) USB and Express Card, no battery (CTR-500)
3) USB, with internal battery (PHS-300 I think)

PHS = Personal HotSpot
CTR = Cellular Travel Router

They basically take a express-card/usb wireless modem and then share that feed via wifi. So they act as a personal wlan <-> wwan gateway. I've been thinking about getting one. Right now, they have support for Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T devices (and I think Alltel), but not T-Mobile. I think the reason for that is that they're aiming this at 3G data services, and T-Mobile isn't really there yet.

I have the u727 also, but I haven't tested it with conecting it to the tablet yet, namely because I don't have a USB cable that can change gender. I know the u727 advertises linux ready, but I couldn't get to work in Ubuntu the other day when we had a lightning storm that briefly knocked out the cable and subsequently, the cable modem. I'd say it was entirly possible, just figuring out how is the question.
