Hey Everyone!

Been lurking in these forums for the last week or so while waiting for my N810 to arrive, which it did today

I'm having some trouble setting it up though. First of all, I couldn't connected to my router, it kept returning an error saying it couldn't retrieve an IP address from the server.

I set it up to have a manual IP address after that, and now it completes and says 'connected' and i see it connected in the router status page as well from my desktop.

However, I can't access any web pages, or even connect to my router from the tablet, despite it saying connected.

I'm a little stumped on where to go from here - any ideas on what might be going wrong?

The router is an Asus WL500g if it's important.

Did you set up correctly all the parameters ?
Particularly the DNS ones.

What kind of error do you get when trying to open a web page ?

Your Asus router needs to be set up to allow the IP address that you're manually selecting, access to the internet. Sounds like your DNS settings are also turned off as Anidel said. I am not familiar with your router, but I googled it and there are a lot of people with similar problems. I would suggest reading some of their solutions.

hmm, I think it might still be the dhcp issue - it is set to manual now, both form the tablet, and via the router according to MAC address, but although the tablet says connected, and i can see it connected on the router page, there is no lease of the manually set one in use...

frustrating.

The error is "Server not found" as you would expect when trying to access a website when not on the internet.

I'll fiddle with some more of the settings and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the help!

All sorted now, was a router setting, on the odd chance this helps anyone else, when adding a device to the WL500G, be sure to add the mac address to both the MAC filter and the internet firewall option :$
