After my 770 died two weeks ago, I'll get a used N800 this week and, of course, plan to do a clean reflash with Diablo.

Also, this weekend I bought an external hard disk that runs the TwonkyMedia UPnP server... I thought maybe these two devices could play well together.

Maybe.

Now I read Canola does still have issues on Diablo and is considered experimental; in another thread I read that the Media Streamer will not install under Diablo.

What would you suggest? Any other clients that would work?

I'm a little afraid that following some black magic to get one of the two named applications running under Diablo might cause future system upgrades to fail.

diablo + canola2 + twonky works flawlessly.
I have the exact same setup, N800 running diablo, installed canola2 with upnp plugin + Qnap TS-409 Pro NAS box with twonky 4.4.3 (i think).

If canola fails - just install the nokia media streamer. It's not as good looking - but functionality is the same - and it's actually much quicker to browse you upnp media.

So both canola and media streamer install without issues on Diablo meanwhile? just curious, can't try it myself without even a tablet ATM.

The included Media Player in Diablo finds my Twonky server. Media Streamer will also work. Canola works but is not the best of the 3 IMHO for UPnP streaming (no album art and too long between songs). Media Streamer is the best (allows queuing, displays album art).

Cool. I didnt have any UPnP device so far, so I had no idea that even the built in player would find my twonky server. I love this. Can't wait to try it.

The only issue Canola has is if your updating python to Diablo. So if you hold off on those updates then you should be fine. (see canola forum).

Hey nikolajhendel,

I have that set up and can get to TV when I turn my server's firewall off. Once it finds the TV server I can turn the firewall back on and stream media but the initial connection always requires me to disable the firewall.

Did you open any additional ports in your FW? I have 9000:TCP and 9010:TCP but have not been able to figure anything else out via a netstat -a or searching.

Just curious.... thanks,
Frank
