I was wondering if anyone here had any success in setting up a SIP account (on OS2008/Diablo) with a Microsoft Live Communication Server (LCS) or Office Communication Server (OCS)?
If from what I understand, the chat and voip functionality in Maemo is based on Telepathy, and Telepathy uses Sophia-SIP, just like Pidgin's "SIP/SIMPLE" plugin.
Now, unfortunately, the SIP/SIMPLE plugin, which uses a vanilla Sophia-SIP library does not work with LCS or OCS, thanks to Microsofts "extensions" of the standard.
However, a few intrepid souls have modified that library and released it as SIPE.
I know that Nokia isn't interested in making the tablets enterprise devices, but there are a lot of us who could use it that way. I would love to have a "soft" phone like this for when I am on call, for example.
So, am I missing something? Can the current app actually connect to LCS? If not, has anyone given any thought to trying to port the SIPE project changes over to Telepathy?
