For a couple of weeks I enjoyed having both my comcast and my yahoo email accounts on my Nokia N810, and all was well. Lately, though, neither account works. At first I was getting something like "can't connect with this smtp server or it doesn't exist." After hours of fiddling around, I starting getting a different error message: "Recipient not found on server." Could this be one of those deals where my server is somehow blacklisted because of spam? Any fellow sufferers? Any possible solutions?

The general instructions--for any Internet Service Provider (ISP)--are to go to the ISP's web site and find the support section in which they provide email setup information. Comcast has just such a section on their web site. Like most* ISPs, Comcast doesn't provide instructions specific to the tablets, so configuration requires matching up the information your tablet's email client asks for with the information the ISP provides for other clients.

That said, here's the specifics, assuming you're using Diablo (or the Modest beta on Chinook):
  1. Launch "E-mail" on your tablet.
  2. In E-mail, open the application menu.
  3. Open the "Tools" sub-menu.
  4. In the "Tools" sub-menu, tap "Accounts..."
  5. In the "E-mail accounts" window that opens, tap the "New" button.
  6. In the "Account setup" wizard that opens, tap the "Next" button.
  7. For "Region", select "USA".
  8. For "Service provider", select "Other".
  9. For "Account title", enter something to identify this account. "Comcast Account" might be a reasonable choice.
  10. Tap the "Next" button.
  11. For "Name", enter your name as you'd like it to appear to those who will receive email from you.
  12. For "User name", enter your Comcast username. Your Comcast username is the part of your Comcast email address before the "@". Do not include "@comcast.net".
  13. For "Password", enter your Comcast password.
  14. For "E-mail address", enter your Comcast email address. If your Comcast username is "mpgorman", then your Comcast email address is "mpgorman@comcast.net".
  15. Tap the "Next" button.
  16. For "Account type", select "POP3".
  17. For "Incoming server (POP3)", enter "mail.comcast.net".
  18. For "Secure connection", select "SSL (POP3S)
  19. Tap the "Next" button.
  20. For "Outgoing server (SMTP)", enter "smtp.comcast.net".
  21. For "Secure connection", select "SSL".
  22. For "Use secure authentication", select "Login".
  23. Tap the "Next" button.
  24. Tap the "Finish" button.

* I'd have written "all", but SingTel might actually provide such instructions. Heck, they might pre-configure the email client outright. I haven't checked.
