I compiled a few months ago x48 for OS2008 (thanks to this site) ; but I stopped here because it was really too slow... If you want to play, you can mix lybniz and Free42 ; it will be a lot faster.
If you want to see how slow it was, you can watch this video.

Yann, I just replied to another thread on this same topic, which didn't have the video link. Yes, the emulator code isn't very efficient. I remember the emulator running only 2X faster than a real HP48 on a i486DX2 66MHz box. I wonder how slow plotting a simple function like x^2 is on the emulator vs the real HP48. Your video looks slugish, but the HP48 itself is very slugish, especially compared to its TI competitors.

It would be nice if the software could roate the GUI 90 degrees and display the HP48 in its true form on the Nokia.

It could do that... xrandr is available now, so you can rotate the whole N800 to portrait mode.

I haven't looked into xrandr much. Does it rotate a particular application/window, or does it flip the entire 'desktop' ? How easy is it to switch back and forth?

There's a thread on it, search for rotate. It rotates the entire x-server any of 4 ways. (I don't know if you can do mirroring or not...) You can switch via a status-bar applet, or (my preferred way) by powerlaunch.

The rotation is handled surprisingly well, actually. The full-screen keyboard is broke hopelessly, but the HWR and stylus-board work tolerably. All apps ought to be full-screened (the wide panel on the left is now subtracting from the 480px side), but most work fine.

A significantly faster port of x48 is now available on maemo!
