Since pidgin wont install on it. Instant messenging is one of the reasons i bought this n800. Any help would be great.

no and where can i download that at. i cant find it on the maemo site. typing this on my n800. so far this is the only complaint i have. Its WAY!!! nicer then my htc touch i had a few months ago. And it turns on more then i can say about my dell axim v50.

Hi, I've tried to make it easy but I haven't tried the following therefore I am not sure it is accurate. If it isn't I hope someone will correct.

The following should work. First, install rtcomm, see http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org

Then you must add Collabora Haze by going to http://www.gronmayer.com/it/dl.php?id=167

You might have to add Chinook extras repository
Catalog name: maemo Extras chinook
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distrbution: chinook
Components: free non-free

Just like before.... i get to step 3 on rtcomm installation and i get a error message that says " unable to install rtcomm-beta-os2008. Some application packages required for this installation are missing"

When you go to install the rtcomm .deb from the site and the popup comes up asking you if you want to install it, tap Details instead of Ok and then tap the Problems tab and list here what packages it says are missing.

That's the Summary tab, there should be a Problems tab in that same window if there are missing dependencies.
