Hi,

I've read about the various degrees of the "shadow" due to how the backlight is designed on the N800.

Is it the same on the N810?

Thanks!

Its a different screen on the N810, a MUCH better one. Personally I have not seen this on MY unit, but other people may have. Never heard of this happening on a n810.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I just bought an 800 off eBay and had to return it. The shadow was just too much. I've seen it on my coworker's 800 as well, and though not as noticeable, is still there.

I'm thinking now, I might spring for an 810. My only real use of it would be for reading, black text on white background, and any noticeable shadow like I've seen on the 800's are for me really distracting.

Why would you use black-on-white for an emissive display? White-on-black makes worlds more sense and is much easier on the eyes.

Well, N810 screen does look just a tiny bit darker on the right side. The difference is almost illusory though.

I'll try it the other way some time. I've been reading black-on-white for ages on my aging Axim.

I've been looking at some screenshots on Flickr. Here's a nice pic that shows that evil 800 shadow with those little "orbs" of light in contrast to the 810 which looks much better:

Hmm.. I think I'm sold on the 810.

Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it
