Hi,

I'm trying to backup my device (OS 4.0) before upgrading to 4.1/Diablo and the Backup/Restore app doesn't seem to work at all. When I start a backup (press OK on the screen Select data for backup) the UI freezes, the processor goes to 100% but nothing happens. I cheked the free space on the device with df and none of the drives seem to get any data copied on it. When checking with top I can see that an instance of maemo-launcher is using up all the processor time. Killing it closes the Backup/Restore app and the processor goes back to (near) 0%

I tried it several times with several setups. At first I told it to backup everything to my external card, left it on for the night but it didn't finish. Then I tried it several times to the Internal card, checking everything off but leavong only the Contacts, Applications and Bookmarks on, still nothing happens. Actually I'm most concerned about the applications as I'd rather not reinstall them by hand. I've already tar'd /home and /etc. Does anyone know if dpkg --get-selections followed by a dpkg --set-selections would work flawlessly?

Actually according (to I think it was bun) the install of packages by hand was fairly painless and might be cleaner. I know I'm an "install addict" and when I rebuild/reflash I usually drop a bunch of the apps that were taking up space.
Especially if you have everything backed up.
