Your question is a bit vague, but I think I know what you're asking...

See if this thread answers your problem.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Below are the messages:

1) First, I already installed "Desktop environment"

2) When I execute "startx" command, it is giving the below messages:

(EE) NV(0): No display devices found
(EE) Screen(S) found, but none have a usuable configuration.
Fatal server error:
No screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Log File Contents: (/var/log/Xorg.0.log)

using config file "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
ServerLayOut "Default Layout"
Screen "Default screen" (0)
Monitor "Generic monitor"
Device "nVidia Corporation NVIDIA default card"
------------
------------
The directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc" does not exist
Entry deleted from font path
------------
------------

I hope that this information is sufficient to analyze the problem to get the graphical desktop.

Thank you.

Regards,
Chandra

Wow, this is completely the wrong forum to ask that question.

I thought maybe you meant the Maemo SDK's Xephyr server. But you mean the primary X server on your laptop!

While I agree with Qole.. Most of us here that help with the Tablet are likely also familiar with linux - Especially debian.

I'll see if I can't provide some advice.

Your problem likely exists inside your xorg.conf file.. incorrect video card driver or possibly screen resolution/depths etc.

To help you with this we'd need a lot more info... namely: What is your Laptop/"Note Book"? Model number would be appreciated.. help us determine what video card/LCD screen your laptop is running.

Also attaching the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file might also help.. (don't copy/paste.. that's likely to be a lot of text.)

To address what Qole was saying.. This Forum is actually where a question like this should go. You want help with Debian, not the Tablet.

I'd try moving "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" to "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.bak" (or something), so that the X server tries starting up without the config file.

Hi,

As Mr. Ace said, I deleted "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" file and restarted my Linux O.S., Now, I got my graphical desktop.

Thank you.

Chandra
