Has anyone successfully reflashed the N810 WiMAX Edition? I have attempted using the Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard without success. This application does not find a file to automatically download and ask me to provide the file. I provide the following file: RX-48_DIABLO_4.2008.36-5_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM downloaded from: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/ , however, upon selecting this file in the Wizard and clicking on next - I get the following message:

"Unable to start update

Unsupported software update file

The software on your Nokia-RX48 was not updated, because the update file is not supported by your device.

Please check that the chosen software update file is intended for your device.

Use Back button to go back and select another file, or try automatic update."

Additionally, the following Nokia USA Website: https://www.nokiausa.com/A41271130 points me to download update software directly from Nokia - this sofware is the Nokia Software Updater that comes with PC Suite or Ovi Suite. Upon installation and connection of the N810 WiMAX, PC Suite connects, however in an incompatible USB mode that effectively halts me at that point.

Thoughts on how to re-flash the Nokia N810 WiMAX? I visited the Chicago Nokia Flagship Store yesterday for assistance and the gentleman I worked with hit the same problems I encountered.

Thanks,
MaFranklin

mafranklin:

The firmware file you have is correct for N810 WiMAX Edition.

Where/when did you get your N810WE? If it is a "pre-production" model, the "COMBINED" firmware will not load to it. You'll need "LEGACY" version, which I'm afraid is not available for general public...

EDIT: It is actually other way around... If you did have pre-production model you can flash the firmware, but on final release device it will not work due to bootloader being incompatible with the hardware ID. New firmware release is expected soon to fix this.

Mara is correct, and I'm betting he has identified the problem.

I have a preproduction N810WE and have reflashed it numerous times during testing... using the LEGACY images.

How do I determine if I have a pre-production N810 WiMAX versus Legacy? I purchased directly from Nokia USA. Would they sell pre-production?

Hmmm... they should not have.

What identification does the tablet have on its face?

On the the front of the device it is labeled N810 with orange letters on keyboard and orange lined carrying case. Any other potential signs via the tag on the outside of box or tag behind the battery?
