Hi,

I pass more than 3 hours looking why I can't reflash my 770,
my system is SuSE 10.1, symptom are:

./flasher-2.0 -F ./SU-18_2006SE_1.2006.26-8_PR_F5_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
flasher v0.8.1 (May 30 2006)

SW version in image: SU-18_2006SE_1.2006.26-8_PR_MR0
Image '2nd', size 8704 bytes
Image 'secondary', size 87040 bytes
Image 'xloader', size 13824 bytes
Image 'initfs', size 1890304 bytes
Image 'kernel', size 1266560 bytes
Image 'rootfs', size 60030976 bytes
Suitable USB device not found, waiting

and when I poweron my 770 I see in /var/log/messages

Jul 18 21:46:31 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 20
Jul 18 21:46:32 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: new device found, idVendor=0421, idProduct=0105
Jul 18 21:46:32 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
Jul 18 21:46:32 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: Product: Nokia 770 (Update mode)
Jul 18 21:46:32 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: Manufacturer: Nokia
Jul 18 21:46:32 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jul 18 21:46:33 smbwks03 kernel: usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 20

USB bus disconnect after 1 second, doing nothing

solution was to enter before flasher-2.0 command:
export USB_DEVFS_PATH=/dev/bus/usb

as explain in this post: http://l3x.net/imwiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Main

Just in case someone has same problem

Good day,
Laurent.

There is also a perl string one can type in that will do the same thing, at least on Knoppix. It has to do with the path to the usb device changing or some such in the very latest kernel 2.6 versions. It's on the MaemoWiki, too, although not always that easy to spot.
