Is there any way of adding wikipeida poi's like you can do in google earth to maemo mapper? This would really be a killer feature.
Would be great if you could get a url or the article directly in maemo mapper.

All i've been able to find is this: http://bergie.iki.fi/blog/maemo_mapp...and_wikipedia/

but it is almost two years old..

Please any help would be awesome!

Its possible to convert TomTom POI to Wayfinder, and its possible to convert TomTom POI to McGuider. So why not to Maemo Mapper?

Maemo Mapper's POI files are XML generated with a CGI script http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/poi.cgi and input from Goople Maps. The CGI is on the Maemo Mapper author's site. I try that method to see if it yeilds the POI's you're interested in -- conversion may not be necessary. If TomTom's POI are also XML the conversion to Mapper may be posible with a text editor. Here's a sample of a Mapper POI with a single point:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<gpx version="1.0" creator="http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/poi.cgi" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0">
<wpt lat="36.808493" lon="-119.80618">
<name>Starbucks</name>
<desc>704 W Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA‎ - (559) 226-1747‎ - 0.9 mi</desc>
</wpt>
</gpx>

There are plenty of tools available to convert TomTom ov2 poi files to M/M's gpx format... >>CLICKY<<

You may also find the JAVA app in the following thread useful.

Something like this, on the commandline:
gpsbabel -f tomtompois.ov2 -i tomtom -F convertedpois.gpx -o gpx

gpsbabel is available for maemo.
