I think is your problem. Maemo has a feature where it can cache GTK stuff for faster loading of GTK apps called maemo-launcher. A program has to be specially configured during compile time for it to use maemo launcher. When maemo-launcher is used with a program, you end up with <program> and <program>.launch. With maemo-launcher, <program>.launch becomes a library of sorts but contains the main program but you need <program> to launch it.

You're basically missing the main program, so best I can suggest to you is to install my mod =):

That looks fine actually, it just shows it iterating over the elements of $PATH looking for osso-xterm.launch and finding it in /usr/bin.

Kossy: does reinstalling osso-xterm ("sudo apt-get install --reinstall osso-xterm") make a difference?
