I'm looking for information on how wi-fi works in OS2008. I'm trying to do simple stuff with iwconfig like putting my card in monitor or master mode. The former works with iwconfig (haven't tried to sniff, though) while the latter fails (Operation not permitted). I called "/etc/init.d/wlancond stop" before trying, in case the OS would try to switch me back to managed mode and reconnect to my home wlan. This looks very much like a limitation of the cx3110x driver and/or firmware.
The fact is, I haven't found any documentation on this driver (which I'd be willing to tinker with) or even how wlan is managed by my N810.
Any pointers? Cheers!
