I have a standard backup done by the built in backup utility. Is it possible to extract 1 file from the back up and leave everything else intact?

Backups are just stored as zip files in the backups folder of your memory card. Open the zips and extract whatever.

Do you know which folder my .hex-a-hop saves might be hiding in?

Unfortunately, they might have not got saved. For third party applications, settings/saves only get saved if there is a custom definition file for the backup application and I don't think there was one included for hex-a-hop

If I'm (hopefully) wrong, then you probably would find it in your settings.zip in /home/user

BTW, you can use 'xarchiver' to view the contents of those zip files as well as check in this folder for backup configuration file
Code:
ls -l /etc/osso-backup/*
HIH
