I have an n770 and I'm trying to find a dynamic DNS update client that I might be able to load on on my tablet, but I haven't been able to find anything. DynDNS offers 2 linux based clients (ddclient and inadyn) but they haven't been ported to the n770. Is there any way to load one of these apps on the n770 and get it to work? Another idea I had was to manually the determine the ip address of my n770 remotely by using e-mail in combination with an autoreply feauture (I could periodically e-mail the device and after receiving the autoreply could determine the ip from the header). Unfortunately, neither the default email app or Claws-Mail offer autoreply. Any other ideas?

ddclient is using perl, so you can probably use it on the tablet as is. You can install the debian package, or simply copy the files /usr/bin/ddclient and /etc/ddclient.conf from a working system.

ddclient is available as a tarball. While I'm fairly computer savvy, I'm a novice when it comes to linux. Since my only computer is a windows based laptop, how can I unpack the file? Should I download it directly to my my n770? Also once unpacked, do I copy all the files to usr/bin/ddclient or are there other folders that need to be created? And finally, once all the files are copied over, do I execute the app by using filemanager and doubleclicking the main file (I'm assuming the program won't appear as an installed app)?
