hello all.

i have a partitioned 8gb internal and a 16gb external card with a clone running on the internal card. something is wrong with the cloned version on the card and i had an issue with some apps. i have been too busy to play with it so i have been running from flash with my more "vanilla" OS08

i have some of the apps on internal flash that i have on my clone but i wanted to add a few more...like Pidgin, MaemoMapper, Kagu, and SCUMMVM

pidgin and maemo mapper installed fine the other day.....i did them at different times when i thought of it. the other day i tried installing Kagu Media Player through application manager while on the maemo website. i went through the first few steps but then got a lil window with the message;

"unable to download application package not found"

i tried a few times then gave up.

today i tried installing SCUMMVM on my internal flash (i have it on my clone and it still works) from the mamo website and got the same message.

thinking it is just my app. manager so i tried installing CrazyParking which is on the game list right near scummvm.....and it installed fine.

so....has some setting changed for some apps? is it just a matter of me re-ticking a box or downloading something extra?

thanks in advance

first thing to try is to open the application manager, and goto the tools menu.
select application catalogues and disable all the additional non maemo or nokia repositories you have there.

They can be re-enabled later if required, but its usually one of those offering an updated version of some core package that gets in the way of normal installs.

hope that helps

It doesn't.

These applications have only been uploaded to Chinook Extras (and in ScummVM's case, Diablo Extras-devel). Unfortunately their developers have not yet seen fit to get them into DIablo Extras. So when you download that .install file from Downloads, the Application Manager goes looking for the package in Diablo Extras (since you're running Diablo) and can't find anything. Thus, "application package not found".

There are two possible workarounds for this. First option, find and harass the maintainers of those packages to get their packages into Diablo Extras. Second option, add Chinook Extras to your application catalog.

thanks GeneralAntilles,........i went looking online for a chinnok repository on gronmayer,,,,,but am unsure if i am looking at the right things on the list. i click on the download now and nothing seems to happen but if i click on one of the links for it it brings up a prompt for me to save a package in my documents.

i just BET i am doing something wrong.

sorry to be such a newb but i am on the road and not near my home computer.

yippee! i got the chinook extras installed and of course it not only let me install kagu and scummvm but i didnt even have to go to the maemo 'game' page as both apps now show up in my app mngr installable files list.

i guess my biggest prob hunting around to do this is that i do most of my search on google and when i search for 'chinook extras' i got web pages that had those lists headed with 'parent directory'

i am going to assume that THAT is the actual repository?

now i was sorta at a loss what to do there so i found the front door to the gronmayer site that let me install the chinook extras

my last stupid question.....at least for this thread ......do u always have to find the 'front door' to one of those repositories? or is there a file or link you can click on at one of those pages with 'parent directory' that will install the whole repository? and if you 'hear' that there is something in a repository that you need....can you click on it and install it? or is there usually always more than one required file in a repository to make certain aapps work?

thanks again guys
