the email application absolutely will not connect to smtp server smtp.gmail.com. I have tried editing the account changing the outgoing port to 587 and 465. I tried deleting the account and restarting email. I swear I sent an email ONCE with this pitiful app.

It seems to configure all the settings properly but just will not send!!!!!

See http://wiki.maemo.org/Bugs:Stock_ans...he_mail_server for how to debug the server connection.

i don't use gmail so i can't help with anything specific about it.

but i know that smtp sometimes simply doesn't work when your on a mobile data connection rather than on wifi. many carriers block it so you have to use their own smtp server for outgoing mails. (well, at least here they do.)

probably this doesn't apply because most of you prefer wifi AFAIK, but it might be worth mentioning.
