Wow, Apple's tablet sounds very familiar to what the next Nokia tablet will be with a data only connection.

Will it be a crowded market this summer?

Hopefully competition will drive the prices down.

Steve Jobs has previously said "We wouldn't be able to make a tablet for under $500 that wasn't crap". I take this to mean that the Apple tablet will be well over $500.

Other people at Apple have talked down Netbooks, saying that they have terrible keyboards and don't work very well. I take this to mean that the Apple tablet won't have a keyboard, and will have some unique and different feature allowing Apple to claim that it works better.

Personally I think Apple's product will be more Kindle than N900.

Regards,
Roger

Didn't Steve Jobs also say that people don't read books anymore so why would they make a Kindle?

Assuming, that is, that Steve Jobs previous pronouncements still hold relevance.

There are other ways to parse that sentence - I took it as a suprisingly honest appraisal of their hardware quality of late ;-)

Note that it avoids stating whether they can make a >$500 machine that isn't crap either.

Unless Maemo 5 came with a very clean interface with Ovi services, an Apple tablet would not be a good thing for Nokia at all. iTunes is what makes these things rock for Apple; the same thoughts have to be at play for a larger consumer play with the IT.

Guys, the tablet described on this page is said to be slightly smaller than a Kindle, so it is more netbookish.

If an Apple tablet came with >1GB RAM, a decent drive space, and a full version of OS X, I would by one for ~$800 - $1000, easy.
