Need some help. I was recently at a location where I had an open WiFi connection to Optimum and Comcast, but when I tried to connect to either one I got a connection error message. I use the Nokia n-810. Any advice?

Well, the first question is, what was the error you got? Without knowing that, the problem could be any of a hundred different things.

The exact type of WiFi connection would be helpful too. There are several types and Maemo does not support every single setup. See for example

I use optimum wifi with mixed results but you need to authorize first. Open a browser but not just the default maemo page. Type in a URL. It SHOULD bring you to optimum wifi loin page. Oh yeah with Optimum wifi you must have an account as in its not free AFAIK.

don't know about comcast but likely same scenario.

Using OPTIMUM WIFI is more of a MISS than a HIT for me . I have successfully connected maybe only twice (last time was last Sunday) where the authentication page comes up. More often than not, I get connected to their WIFI hotspot but the browser can't get to the authentication page.

I even bookmarked the secured login page but it never gets resolved in the browser. Disappointing.
