Ok, I know there's a % battery remaining application out there, but how about this minor modification. How about having the charging system list the % charge on the battery as it's charging similar to how KDE does their power charging thing. For example, if you clicked on the charge meter while it's charging, it says something like "25% - 3hrs 28min till full" or something like that.

The same could apply to the charge screen that comes up when the device is powered off, but charging. I know it's a silly idea, but I think it'd be useful. You guys might also consider adding something like that to Mer too.

I say that because right now all you get is a notice that says "Charging" and that's anything but informative.

Ya, is it just me, or is the battery status bar meter not very accurate?

It's not, mostly because it has to do an estimate. That's why I'd rather have it say the percentage left personally, and maybe the average usage over a given period of time, be it 15 minutes or half an hour or whatever. 15 minutes likely might be just long enough to average the total amount of time remaining based on battery percentage and average rate of usage over the 15 minute snapshot window. That would tend to be more informative.

For the powered off charging screen, just the % charged, and estimated time to full charge will be plenty.

As far as I know, the battery reporting hardware itself is not horribly accurate, and I don't know if the software would be able to get anything but the four (?) charge levels currently reported.

I've had the reported charge level go up without plugging it in - this hasn't happened to me even on phones, let alone laptops which seem to be the inspiration here.

It would be handy - I'm just not convinced it's possible.

Ah, well, pooper scooper. I guess that's an improvement we have to look forward to in the next nit, eh? (*cough*cough*) You listening to that Nokia?
