Is it possible to script osso-backup, the application that appears as Backup/Restore in the menu? That is, to add (for example) command-line options to get it to create a backup, without it bringing up the GUI?

I ask because I'm trying to setup my regular backup regime, which is currently based on rsync'ing /media/mmc2 to a Linux desktop PC, but that would miss out the .dotfiles and other config files that are not stored within there. Although I could probably make up my own lists of additional files/folders to rsync, osso-backup provides quite a nice framework for this, where extra apps can 'register' themselves into a list of folders/files to backup. It would be nice to take advantage of that and run osso-backup to a folder on /media/mmc2 before doing the rsync, but only if I can write a script to do all of that.

How about a one button back-up, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=29135 #6. You do need to have SDboot installed.
