I've installed OpenSSH as root and as per maemo.org. The client will initiate an outbound SSH conection fine. I've tried SSHing into the 770 and there is no response. I've tried manually starting the dameon (sshd) and still nothing. I've restarted after install a few times and my understanding is that this daemon will be running after startup, no?

I recently had dropbear installed and it was working fine for inbound SSH on the same LAN. I uninstalled dropbear via the Application Manager before installing openSSH via the terminal.

Anyone savvy with openSSH under debian or on the 770 that can give me some ideas on troubleshooting this? Thanks!

EDIT:

Maybe I need to re-examine my network. All was working fine there and I can't see how anything changed on that end. But when I do:

ps ax | grep sshd

it returns

584 root 824 S /usr/sbin/sshd

so I see the daemon is running. Any ideas? Is there a configuration that I've skipped?

What happens when you try to ssh to 127.0.0.1?

Thank you rattis for the help. I ended up testing and now its working fine. Odd, must have been my network in the end? Sorry for the false alarm and thanks.

Best,
