For about the past few days it seems, when I get a notification of a new email, it plays the sound and flashes the LED just fine, but not getting the message tab in the task switcher. I have to open the email client to see what I got. The only thing Ive done that could have messed up the notification system is I updated dialcentral to the version that has notification support. Any ideas what might be causing this?

I hope I dont have to reflash. Another thing I was noticing is that when I was getting the new mail tab in the task switcher and Id tap a msg to open it it either wouldnt open or would take forever to.

Have you rebooted your tablet since the problem started? I remember killing hildon desktop while an email notification was flashing. I just rebooted and sent myself a test email and the notification tab showed up as it should.

lol. I don't know why you need to shut it off each night. It uses such little power that I've left it on for months at a time, idling overnight even. At full charge you have 10-14 days of idle time. I don't think 8 hours of idle is exactly going to threaten your battery life. Well, of course that assumes you have wireless and any energy eating apps (like GPS and media player) turned off.

i agree with you that it won't make a huge difference, but shutting it down and rebooting uses noticeably less battery power vs. leaving it on standby for 8hrs., doesn't run the battery down as much and therefore will extend the lifespan of the battery. it also kills those weird modest mail loops asking for the "correct" password i get sometimes.

related problem (from a non-teckie, so be gentle!). However many times I set up my yahoo email account it wants to retrieve over 6,500 of history. I keep setting retrieval limit to 20 (or 50 for a change & a bit of variety from time to time) but it always goes back to the beginning & starts dumping everything onto my machine. Any advise............?

Set the limit for the amount of e-mails to grab to 200 or so. You can do so from the account properties within the e-mail client on the tablet.
