Hi im getting tired of all the hype about the new firmware and it being delayed [thats what i thought] so i was just wanted to do something different and 1. Ask what you age is [just want to know what the avg. age is and who these produccts appeal to.

2. What device(s) did you have before this. example(palm zire)

3. Why did you buy this device what made it better to you than other devices?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For me...
1. I'm 15 years old.

2. Palm zire 72- Palm Lifedrive-n800

3. Larger screen , web cam , Gizmo/skype<soon>, plus open source, and many more.

I've just done all this for Nokia, complete with followup, so I'll not go into details ;-)

Short version: (very) late 20s; 770, Psion netBook/Series 7/Revo/5mx/5, Sony Clie PEG-UX50; Linux/price.

1. 40 (still celebrating my birthday week ;-) ...)

2. none. the 770 was the first that i thought was useful and worth its price.

3. i wanted to do quick checks on wikipedia/google for subjects that come up on tv or during a conversation; "read the newspaper" on the toilet; check RSS feeds and mail in bed; watch DVDs on the train. the major thing, though, was that it's was GNU/linux based, which seems the most future proof strategy.

it does all this and much more and i couldn't be more happy with it.

3. friend sent me an article titled 'developers, please fill this blank slate' which got me researching it; would not have made the radar if it didn't run linux (or some unix).

1. 46, going on 13.

2. (more or less in order of appearance) Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic 4120p, Nokia 770, Archos PMA430, Siemens SIMPad SL4, Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic 3400, Newton Messagepad 2100, Newton Messagepad 2100, Psion Series 5MX, Palm IIIc, Psion Series 3a, Success Pocket agenda.

Quite a lot of those have not (yet) been mothballed, mainly because they do their job still well. Especially the Psions and the Newtons, because both take standard AA cells (Newtons need an adapter thingie) and have screens that are virtually indestructable.

3. Screen, Linux, pen input, Linux.

1. 60, going on 12.
2. Rexx 9000, several Palms.
3. I just had a feeling, correctly so, that this was a must. It was new and Linux and small and cheap, comparatively speaking.
