After following the directions for flashing to the most recent Diablo using windowsxp, the screen started flickering intensely and now I have a black screen with a faint line along the top edge that seems as though the entire display has been pushed up to the top. That is, when I start up I can tell that I see part of the white splash screen but nothing else. It is only fine line across the top. I am thinking of trying to flash again using a linux desktop and following the directions from maemo. Any ideas?

A Linux desktop shouldn't make any difference. Did the flash process get interrupted at all? Did you have any screen issues before flashing? Are you using the supplied Nokia cable? Has the Tablet suffered any physical shock or been squashed?

I would certainly reflash and see what happens (even using XP).

There were not any screen issues before reflashing. I don't believe I interrupted the flash process, but I am not totally positive. I am using the supplied cable.
I reflashed, heard the startup chime on the n810 but still the screen looks black (it does have a slight glow in the dark). I can barely make out a white line about 3/4 inch long in the top right and a little blue line at the top left at the very top edge of the screen. By the way this is new. Maybe a rough shipping accident could have caused damage? It seemed to be fine until the screen started flashing quickly with vertical lines. I turned it off and then on and now this.

Also, when I push the power button the tablet will not turn off.

Was the battery full when you started? Try the power supply although from what you describe a low battery is unlikely. But a low battery can cause an interruption to the flash process.

It sound like you might have to contact Nokia (or the supplier) for a replacement

Don't give up. There are hardly any issues like this being reported it seems.

What is described here is very abnormal.
If the unit is new, it's just best to return it and get a replacement.
You probably got a faulty screen.

Hi,

I'm having an issue similar to this one - the problem is that my device flickers. I'm currently trying to power it up - since I've taken the battery out once or twice to turn off the screen.
Do you guys think that this issue could be solved by re-flashing it from my windows desktop?

Thanks in advance,

Dominick
