What is the actual dimension of the visible display of the N900- not counting the LCD surface bezel? Sometimes the bezel is included and depends on the design for how much.

Actual light emitting display area of Droid and G1:

Droid = 82mm X 47mm = 3,854mm ratio 1:74

G1 = 68mm X 46mm = 3,128mm ratio 1:48

Droid screen is 23% larger than G1

Droid is a 3.7"-er, so that's not just bezel there.

EDIT: G1 is different ratio than the N900

Droid has virtually no surface bezel that is visible.

G1 has a visible surface bezel, but the light emitting area is 3.2", so no loss.

N900 is specced at 3.5". My guess is the N900 has no encroaching bezel either.

THIS is the kind of silly thing I think about without the product. When I get the N900 (if before the Droid goes back), I will do a detailed comparison of all three. Do not worry, I will not post here

since the diameter is 3.5" and the resolution is 800x480 there is only one dimension possible right?

actually, not necessarily.
There is only 1 dimension possible IF you know the aspect ratio of individual pixels.
Assuming that the pixels are square, and assuming that the 3.5 inch of the N900 and the 3.7 inch of the Droid are accurate (they are possibly rounded up), that would mean that the screen of the Droid would be 8.2% larger than that of the N900.
If the Droid would have the same aspect ratio, then it would be 11.8%, but the screen of the N900 is less "wide", so it is 8.2% .

Again this is only the case if the pixels are square and if the indicated diagonal size is correct.

Why wouldn't the pixels be square? This is not a TV after all
