I'm part of the crowd that would like to use my 770 for streaming media. I've tried Orb with liittle success, but some none the less. I have also recently bought the Slingbox. Not specifically for this application but if I could get it to work, I sure woould be happy. So, has anyone tried, or does anyone have any thoughts/comments on Sling?

oh, slingbox, not slingblade.

not familiar with it, but as far as the client end goes, the media streamer app produced by Nokia seems to be quite wonderful at pulling media from a UPnP server. So far it only delivers photos and audio, but video is in the works.

I've not touched mplayer much, mostly due to its lack of interface. But, I believe that, too, has been remedied in the recent release.

Sorry, but without an official client from Slingbox, I think the chances of ever getting it to work on a 770 are mighty slim. They still haven't released a Mac client yet, despite promising one for years and even indicating support on their packaging.

What I do is take the Sling source -- with an old version of Slingplayer, as the new version is encrypted -- record it using At Large Recorder (applian.com) which sometimes records and sometimes doesn't, then convert it to avi and watch it in the Nokia Video Player if I don't mind audio and video being out of sync, or in mplayer if I don't mind having to reboot my 770 at the end of it all -- ahhh technology, the life of an early adopter.
