We all know that the app store is one of the most important aspects of the succes of the iphone.

In this thread i would like iphone users to post top 10 apps they use the most. Then we can compare to see if there is a similar app on maemo 5. There is no point talking about bookmarks for mobile websites packaged as apps. I would like to talk about the real useful apps. So let us see where maemo can learn from apple

Tweetie/Twitterriffic/TweetDeck - they're better than 0.x Mauku
Air Sharing - Sharing via wifi
Evernote
Bloomberg - better than a web app by far for stocks
1Password - combined with the desktop app, works great for storing passwords
AroundMe/Priceless Picks/WHERE - location aware way to know what's around you
Convertbot - I cannot live without this conversion app
TransMate - language translation that's fast... reminds me of how badly my German has gotten
Trapster - location aware app that has a public sourced/input backend telling you where cops hideout. Seriously underrated, saves me tickets.
Layers - it outputs Photoshop files *.psd's man... seriously!

And of course... the popular games. I'm knee deep in Unity3D development lately, so that has my attention, Papervision3D (for Flash... which is useless on the iPhone prior) and stuff like that.

That's my list. There's a few others I'd list, but they're inevitably going to be duplicated - Maps, multi-IM client, Skype... that kind of stuff.

Great lists.. I'm just gonna add a few that I use that I haven't seen above:

CalcPad: Calculator with paper-printout look.. great for long calculations, and you can go back to edit any of the previous operations. (portrait + landscape mode with ASR)

NoteSpark: Notes w/ web sync.. and you can share & sync notes to other people too. I use this to keep shared notes with my wife. If either of us edits the note, it'll send notification to the other 'subscribers'.

Keymote: shows a customizable keypad on my iphone, and I can set it next to my keyboard for app-specific shortcuts.

Comic Touch: Adds layers of comic word bubbles and other comic effects to pictures

Ebook readers: stanza, kindle, eReader, iSilo, Classics, etc..

Some of the games:

Nintaii: great 3d maze+geometric puzzle based on 2x1 blocks.

The Deep: best handheld 3d pinball engine I've seen yet..

Boxed In: reverse sokoban, with more variations..

Btw, when I browsed thru the apps that I use "most often" as the thread title suggested, I've found many of them to be mobile clients for popular websites. So I guess I shouldn't mention them, although their packaging and presentation makes them so much quicker, more convenient, and one-hand friendly than if I had accessed them thru the browser.

Byline: Syncs 2-ways with Google reader, great for off line reading of image heavy content

Last.fm, Pandora, and Slacker: music discovery streaming apps

NPR News: Great interface for podcast content from National Public Radio

Instapaper: Download web pages for off line reading later

WiFiFoFum: non default wi-fi finder that allows you connect to signals not revealed under the default (may not be an issue with the N900)

A Google Voice interface, Cydia store has GV Mobile that I use with my Gizmo5 and Truphone accounts to make wi-fi calls on my iPod Touch

VNC, RDP

Not sure how the N900 map app will work, but Atlas from the Cydia store allows map caching so that you don't need a live data connection for GPS, like Maemo Mapper
