Anyone else having a problem with Gizmo taking a LONG time to load? It stays on the "Starting XMPP" mode for at least 5 minutes before finally loading. And it takes even longer to exit. I am not running any other programs.

Is there anything I can do to help speed things along?

i found that the loading time depends on the wifi signal strength.

Many people forgo the heavy Gizmo client and instead use their Gizmo (a.k.a. SIPphone) accounts with Maemo's built-in SIP client.

I've asked around but have yet to get an answer on this.

Can Google Voice with a Gizmo account be used with the built-in SIP (rtcomm beta 2) client?

Thanks ahead!

Yes. If you properly configure your tablet's built-in SIP client with your SIPphone (a.k.a. Gizmo) account information and point Google Voice at your SIPphone number using the "Gizmo" phone type, it will work.* Recent RTCOMM betas for Maemo 4 even include a "SIPphone" account option with most of the correct values pre-filled to make this task easier.

* Assuming your Internet provider doesn't block SIP, yadda, yadda.

for me the main reason to still load Gizmo before making a call is that, if i need to dial through a menu (an answering machine, for example), their touchtones work better than the rtcomm ones.

Also, does it take forever to make a call with Dialcentral? I dial but it takes forever for it to bounce back to my Gizmo account before it can even dial the number want to dial.

Why are you dialing from your gizmo account?

It takes forever using Dialcentral. I dial from Dialcentral but it takes forever for the call to be sent to my Gizmo account and then forwarded to my actual call.

Is it pretty quick for everyone else?

I would love it if someone could direct me on a simple step by step to get this working.

I've just got my settings all wrong or something.

Like I call from my tablet, it rings my other tablet, I answer 2nd tablet and then it rings my home sort of nonsense.

I think my brain must have been leaking when going through the whole set up process.

I've got Dial Central working great on my end so I don't get why I'm having such difficulties doing the same for RTCOMM.

Thanks ahead to anyway willing to help me on this.
