I need help. Yesterday when I woke up my n900 was off. I tried to turn it on and just the nokia logo appeared then the dots but only for one second the most. After that the phone does black then it shuts down. Everytime I turn it on this happens. I did everything possible. I am using windows XP 32-bit. I downloaded flasher 3.5. I did the enable-rd-mode. I did the disable-rd-mode...nothing happens. I downloaded the vanilla file nothing happens. My computer does recognize the phone but when I put this "flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R" the phone restarts and it says "device not found"

Please note. I spent more than 6 hours trying to figure this out but I need help.

I tried this:

You better connect phone to computer and then take out battery so power is gone. So while phone connected you press u on the phone and insert battery at the SAME time, now you should see the usb icon in upper right on your phone screen not with much light, you are now ready to run flash commands. Remember to save the two files for flashing (OS and eMMC vanilla content) in same folder as flasher tool. http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=35631

Flashing tool: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php

OS and eMMC files: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

Start flasher and copy then paste in command:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

When done phone reboots amd locks again you flash OS with command:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

and this:

I would appreciate any help.

Yeh i had this problem with win7 XP mode, make sure you are connected to net, when you see "device not found" goto device manager and find the phone and update/install drivers, its a different set of drivers its normally installed with flasher.

I think mine autodownloaded "update mode drivers" i cannot fully remember but try it

I tried that and I does not show or updates anything. The phone just keeps restarting. When I press the U it just gets stuck on the nokia logo with the USB on the right top corner.

Any other suggestions will be appreciate it.

Try using the flasher to turn on --enable-rd-mode and see if it starts up.

If it does, open the xterminal and try to grab the output of "dmesg." Also, let the battery charge.

When I run flash via Linux, it sits waiting for a connection. I connect the phone (off) and press the power button. It then begins to flash the phone.

My guess is either your windows driver is screwed up, or your phone is. I hope it's windows. Good luck!

Did you start the flasher app on your computer first, before you powered up the N900 and pressed the "U" key to get into flashing mode?

Try starting the flasher app first (it will tell you device not found, waiting for device - or some such thing), THEN power your N900 + U key, THEN plug it into your computer's USB port. If all goes well, flashed should pick up the N900 and start flashing it.

I start the flasher first. I do the enable mode and it works. I get the little tablet icond under Nokia logo. then I do the disable and it works. However it does not get fixed. I tried the vanilla file but when I do that it says that the device is not found. I will try it with linux. I just dont know what to download. I have ubuntu also but i cant install flasher. I have no idea what file to download. is it .exe file?
