Hi teammates,

where is the so praised advantage of Maemo,
when i count only 19 applications for download until now.
If the N900 is recommended as a desktop device,
then it also needs desktop applications.
We need derivates for Photoshop, Word, Excel, OneNote,
Datasafe, Voice-Recorder for example.
Or i am to sophisticated?

Stand on Nokia, you already lie awake.

I must have missed the point where they advertised it as a "desktop device".
And you're counting 19 applications for a device that still isn't on sale. How many applications did the iPhone have when it went on sale? 0, and not even a market place.

You do know the device hasn't even really been released correct?

The very few people who have a Pre-Production unit can't exactly produce thousands of applications, ports, or anything else for that matter. Sure we will see a few things here and there but until the unit is officially released you won't see much movement.

Just wait for more developers to get the phones in their hands and we should see more applications.

DOSbox+several thousand dos apps (and windows 3.11 apps!)
VGBA+several thousand game boy titles.

There will no doubt be more titles that truly take advantage of Maemo+N900 soon, but in the mean time, enjoy some retro computing/gaming.

19 are available from the Extras. If you include what is coming down the pipeline in the very near-term (Extras-testing / Extras-develop) the total is close to 80. Its a matter of time when the numerous and diverse Maemo 4 apps are ported to 5.

Keep in mind Ovi Store for Maemo 5 is also in the works and will most likely be online when the devices are officially shipped.

I'm guessing he was looking at the Maemo Application website. Where were you looking?
