Ok This thread is about how I finally managed to get my N900 to hang up basically. Below are the programs that were running at the time:

- 4x Maemo Browsers: Facebook, Gmail, Speedtest, Maemo Forums
- Firefox with one tab default page
- X-term map
- App Manager
- Xournal
- Internet Radio Streaming
- Maps with routing enabled
- Bounce game running (the first level)
- Mauku
- Email
- Picture Viewer
- gPodder
- Forecast

and finally, the app that resulted in the hang up
- loadApplet, on record mode, trying to record a video of the situation.

I want my money back Nokia :P

Oh btw my aim was to test out some battery life under very heavy load

Doesn't load applet still have open bugs in Bigzilla?

Current Bugs this one Here would this not invalidate your test?

Indeed it invalidates

It was supposed to be a battery load test anyway until it hung up. Before I used the loadApplet, the device was working, although response time was down to 1.5+ seconds :P

Yeah, the N900 is capable of running at least 28 simultaneous applications. Though, I am curious about how much battery life is drained when all these applications are running.

I posted this thread a while back showing the N900 multitasking http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34851

I'm actually very skeptical whether that many apps in parallel are a good battery test, and here's why: with that many apps, you're going to swap. Now, while that also consumes power, it's far less than what the CPU running 100% can consume - and as counterintuitive as it may seem, the CPU is twiddling it's thumbs waiting for pages of memory to come back from swap, so it's actually not doing that much. The worst case scenario should be closer to GPS on, 3G download, WiFi download, FM transmitter on, camera recording a video, and playback of some MP3's, just to get the speakers going... add possibly an accelerometer-using trinket to soak up any remaining CPU capacity. If the device is still alive doing all this, it should run out of batteries real quick
