Hi,
I tried to use my N900 for GPS navigation on my motorcycle. Connected it to the charger, but once it was fully charged, it switched back to battery power and drained the entire barry without ever recharging. So from what I gather I actually need to unplug and then re-plug the charger to start another charge cycle (wtf!! ). Of course this is totally unacceptable when you're riding a bike. Now usually there should be some sysfs file through which I can force charge mode. I looked in /sys/class/hwmon, but there's only the temp and some display stuff. /sys/devices/platform has lots of stuff I don't recognize. Any idea how I could force a recharge from userland?
charging is done by proprietary, unconfigurable and userland software daemon BME not owned by Nokia!
There also exists charge bash script (which read/write directly to charge i2c chip registers) by ShadowJK. It is experimantal and make damage your device... (do not remember to stop bme before using it!) http://enivax.net/jk/n900/charge21.sh.txt
